Bangladesh may have lost a possible $3 billion worth of readymade garment business due to strikes and political violence, Muhammad Atiqul Islam, president of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association, said.

He added that garment orders worth at least $500 million have been diverted to India since January 2013, reports Reuters.

Strikes have disrupted shipment of goods causing foreign buyers to threaten withdrawal of orders.
