Two-day strike in India could cost economy $3.7 billion

Several sectors of the Indian economy are going on a strike on Feb. 20 and 21 to protest against the economic policies of the central government, reports The Hindu.

The strike action could cost the economy around 200 billion Indian rupees ($3.69 billion), according to various chambers of commerce and industry federations.

The general strike called by 11 central trade unions is likely to affect the functioning of banks, insurers, port and docks, public transport, power sector companies, coal and oil industries, post and telecom sector, government offices and industrial sectors.
