BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Insured losses in Texas wildfires top $100M

AUSTIN, Texas—Wildfires in Texas will cause more than $100 million in insured damage, according to the Austin, Texas-based Insurance Council of Texas.

In a statement released Tuesday, the council said that the largest fire took place in Bastrop County, where nearly 500 homes were destroyed. A fire near Gladewater destroyed about 20 homes, while another west of Austin destroyed more than two dozen residences, according to the council.

“Insured losses from the long weekend fires will easily top the $100 million mark as residents survey their damage and insurance adjusters are called in,” the council said in the statement.

The council said that this year’s fire losses are the worst on record for Texas, which has been hammered by an extended drought.
