LONDON—Insurance brokerage veteran Andrew Agnew has been named chairman of the international executive of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
Mr. Agnew, who previously was chairman of JLT Ltd. and a member of the executive committee of London-based Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group P.L.C., takes the Gallagher post effective May 1, Itasca, Ill.-based Gallagher said in a statement. He will be based in London.
Mr. Agnew was a founder of Agnew Higgins Pickering & Co. Ltd., a Lloyd’s of London brokerage that merged in 2006 with JLT’s risk solutions business to form JLT Ltd.
“I am delighted to welcome Andrew into our business as chairman,” David Ross, CEO of Gallagher’s international division, said in the statement. “His considerable market experience and leadership skills will help us build on our very strong position in the London and international markets.”
