BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

VCIA honors captive contributions

BURLINGTON, Vt.—The Vermont Captive Insurance Assn. honored several captive industry participants for their commitment to the association and service to the captive industry Wednesday during the opening general session of this year’s conference.

The VCIA board presented this year’s Industry Service Award to two of the Vermont captive industry’s leaders, Julie Boucher, managing director and U.S. captive solutions practice leader at Marsh Inc., and Nancy Gray, regional managing director of Aon Global Insurance Managers.

The VCIA board presents the Industry Service Award each year in recognition of support of the captive industry and contributions to its overall vitality and welfare.

The association’s annual Captive Crusader Award went to Michael Lusk, president of Decatur, Ill.-based Archer Daniels Midland Co.’s Agrinational Insurance Co. captive. The Captive Crusader recipient is chosen by the VCIA’s staff to recognize service and commitment to the organization.

The VCIA also presented a lifetime honorary member award to Fred Hackett, one of the original supporters of Vermont’s captive legislation. The association bestows the lifetime honorary membership on individuals who, through extended periods of outstanding service or achievement, have made contributions that have furthered the goals of the VCIA and strengthened the captive industry as a whole and the Vermont domicile in particular.

VCIA Chairman Tim East noted that in his decades of involvement with Vermont government and business, Mr. Hackett “left an indelible mark” on every governor, legislator and business leader he’s worked with.

The VCIA board presented an additional honorary membership to Gov. Jim Douglas, who will leave office at the end of his current term in January, in recognition of his support of the state’s captive industry.
