BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

NFIP extended through end of February

WASHINGTON—President Obama has signed a bill that extends the existing National Flood Insurance Program through Feb. 28, 2010.

The Senate passed the short-term NFIP extension—included in a defense appropriations measure—on Dec. 19, shortly before the program was to expire.

“We applaud the Senate for keeping the National Flood Insurance Program in place,” Ben McKay, senior vp of federal affairs for Property Casualty Insurers Assn. of America, said in a statement.

“We look forward to working with the House and Senate in 2010 to advocate a long-term extension that ensures the program’s fiscal soundness and protects homeowners,” he said.
