BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

U.S. Preventive Medicine rolls out online tool

DALLAS—U.S. Preventive Medicine is offering an online wellness program for employers to help their employees manage chronic conditions and focus on preventive health care.

The Prevention Plan, available at www.thepreventionplan.com, is a Web-based tool to help employees to determine their health care risks and create a plan to lower those risks. A nurse advocate is available to answer questions and help users navigate the health care system.

The program can be used to manage chronic care needs of individuals with existing medical issues such as diabetes or asthma, as well as other high-risk health issues. Other features include alerts for preventive screenings, reward program resources and discounts with national partners.

Employees can use the program as a secure data center to store medical information and track their progress, even if they the employer changes insurance carriers or the employee changes jobs, according to the Dallas-based health management company. And employers receive reports to help them evaluate their programs and manage health care costs, the company said.

Employers have no choice but to manage runaway health care costs, Christopher Fey, chairman and chief executive officer, said in a statement. "The federal government is projecting that the average cost of spending per person on health care will be $13,101 by the year 2017," he said, "nearly double the cost in 2006."

Willis program focuses on environmental liability

NEW YORK—Willis Group Holdings Ltd. has introduced an environmental prospective identification and quantification program to help organizations evaluate and reduce their environmental exposures.

The program collects and reviews data about a company's environmental liability portfolio to identify gaps in liability identification, valuation or disclosure.

Following a meeting to gather information, an EPIQ proprietary tool analyzes the information to generate loss possibilities "even where historic loss data is scarce or not available," the New York-based brokerage said in a statement.
