UK water utility faces largest ever fine of $125 million

U.K.-based private utility company Southern Water Services Ltd. has pleaded guilty to illegal sewage discharge into rivers and coastal waters over the years and has been issued a record fine of £90 million ($125 million), Energy Live News reported. Southern Water pleaded guilty to 6,971 illegal sewage discharges between 2010 and 2015 that polluted the rivers in Kent, Hampshire and Sussex and harmed conservation sites, protected areas and oyster beds.
