Germany to investigate Facebook's data gathering activities

Germany’s Federal Cartel Office plans to investigate Facebook Inc.'s activities after concluding that the social media giant allegedly abused its market dominance to gather data on people without their knowledge or consent, Reuters reported citing sources. The Federal Cartel Office said that Facebook acquires data on people from third-party apps including its own WhatsApp and Instagram services and tracks people who are not members.
