Swiss Re acquires 25% stake in Leadway Assurance

Nigeria-based Leadway Assurance Co. Ltd. said that Swiss Re Ltd. has acquired a 25% in the insurer, reported Daily Trust.

With this investment, Swiss Re will be able to deploy capital in line with its strategy of accessing new risk pools in emerging markets and support global insurance development. The share purchase will help Leadway emerge as a leading African financial institution, said Leadway Assurance's managing director Oye Hassan-Odukale.
