BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Health care workers pose the greatest risk of developing COVID-19 infections and, relatedly, have been most likely to submit workers compensation claims, according to the results of a study released Tuesday.

The study, published in Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and conducted by AF Group in Lansing, Michigan, and Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, revealed that 83.7% of the 21,336 COVID-19-related workers compensation claims submitted and accepted by AF Group between Jan. 1, 2020, and Aug. 31, 2020, from 11 Midwest states were from those working in health care.

Within the health care employment category, workers comp claims submitted by medical laboratories were also found to be of higher risk along with traditional hospital, nursing home and other related categories.

The states represented in the report included Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
