Sometimes, diamonds are not forever.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his wife Brittany purchased jewelry that was worth millions from a San Diego merchant. In a recent lawsuit, Mr. Brees alleges he was overcharged for the jewelry, and that he wants at least $9 million in damages.
They filed the lawsuit Monday in California Superior Court against Vahid Moradi of CJ Charles Jewelers. The lawsuit alleges the couple spent about $15 million on diamonds as investments. They later heard from an appraiser that the jewelry was worth much less — about $9 million less, The Washington Post reported.
Mr. Moradi claims he has not done anything wrong because the jewelry could be resold in 10 to 15 years. The lawsuit accuses Mr. Moradi of fraud, breach of contract and violations of California business regulations, according to The Post.
The Lindsay Lohan lawsuit against the makers of the video game Grand Theft Auto V had a good run, but a New York Court of Appeals judge on Thursday tossed out the 2014 suit that claimed a paparazzi-dashing movie star character named Lacey Jonas was based on the film star, celebrity site TheBlast.com reported Sunday.
