XL Group Ltd. said Wednesday that it has appointed Chicago-based Gary Shertenlieb as zonal underwriting manager for its global risk management unit’s U.S. Central region, starting in April.
Mr. Shertenlieb will replace Tom Fenner, who is retiring April 1, and will lead primary casualty insurance and underwriting operations in the Central United States, XL said in a statement. He is joining the insurer from Lockton Cos. L.L.C.
“Gary is an experienced leader and an excellent addition to our team,” Ken Riegler, president of XL’s North American casualty operations, said in the statement. “He brings in-depth knowledge on casualty and risk financing that further enhances the innovative solutions we provide our customers and brokers.”
XL Catlin has named Anne Middleton as global head of placements, ceded reinsurance, Artemis.bm reported.
Ms. Middleton will be responsible for reinsurance program terms, structure and. She will be based in London and report to Mark van Zanden, CEO of XL Catlin's property/casualty underwriting capital management team.
Previously Ms. Middleton was head of finance for XL Catlin's global energy, property and construction lines of insurance.
