Brit taps XL exec to float new U.S. marine team

Brit Ltd. said that it has named New York-based Tom Carroll to launch a marine business unit for Brit Global Specialty USA.
Mr. Carroll will serve as senior vice president of marine, a newly created role. Previously, he was head of U.S. Marine at XL Catlin, Brit said Monday in a statement.
“Tom’s hire marks the strategic evolution of our U.S.-based Property/Casualty platform into the Marine market, a space where the wider Brit Group enjoys a long pedigree. The opportunity to deliver dedicated expertise and local service whilst enhancing our existing appetite in the class is compelling. We are delighted to welcome Tom to Brit,” Nick Davies, president of Brit Global Specialty Americas said in the statement.
