American International Group Inc. has appointed Anthony Baldwin CEO of its U.K. operations, the insurer announced Monday.
Mr. Baldwin will take up the post in addition to his current role as CEO and board director of AIG Europe Ltd., which is headquartered in London, AIG said in a statement.
AIG's U.K. managing director, Jacqueline McNamee left the company late last year as part of a raft of management changes announced by the insurer.
“The United Kingdom has delivered a strong performance in 2015, thanks to the hard work and creativity of the entire team,” said Robert S. Schimek, executive vice president and CEO of commercial at AIG, in the statement.
“Under Anthony's strong leadership, I am confident that the U.K. team will build on this momentum and continue to expand the business by effectively balancing growth, profitability and risk,” he added.
“I am delighted to be assuming responsibility for AIG in the United Kingdom at an exciting time for the business and look forward to working with our talented team to realize the great potential for profitable growth in the U.K. market,” Mr. Baldwin said in the statement.
American International Group Inc. will have to balance shareholder demands for profit and client desires for more product innovation to emerge successfully from its current woes.
