BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Federal health exchange enrollment nearly 6.8 million: HHS

Nearly 6.8 million individuals signed up for health insurance plans through the federal exchange during the first eight weeks of the 2015 open enrollment season, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services reported Wednesday.

Of the 6,756,438 individuals who selected exchange coverage between Nov. 15 — the start of 2015 open enrollment — and Jan. 9, 163,050 opted for coverage between Jan. 3 and Jan. 9.

The selection of plans by nearly 6.8 million individuals through Jan. 9, is sharply higher compared with a year ago when 1,196,430 individuals had enrolled by the end of 2013.

HHS also disclosed — from the start of the 2015 open enrollment season through Jan. 9 — plan selections by individuals in the 37 states in which the federal exchange is available.

Of those states, Florida had the most signups for coverage over the last eight weeks: 1,190,922. Florida was followed by Texas, 859,377, North Carolina, 434,503, Pennsylvania, 408,934 and Georgia, 398,781.

At the other end, North Dakota had the fewest number of individuals who selected plans: 14,973. Following North Dakota was Alaska, 15,830, Wyoming, 17,029 and South Dakota, 17,196.
