A U.S. appeals court has ruled that state-run health insurance plans must cover gender-affirming surgeries for transgender individuals, Reuters reports. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld two lower court rulings that found North Carolina's state employee health insurance plan and West Virginia's Medicaid program discriminatory for not covering such surgeries.
