American International Group Inc. on Thursday named former Lloyd’s of London executive Jon Hancock as CEO, international general insurance.
Mr. Hancock, whom Lloyd’s recently announced would be stepping down as director of performance management this year, will join AIG this spring and report to Peter Zaffino, president and global chief operating officer, AIG said in a statement.
Mr. Hancock’s appointment follows the departure in January of Chris Townsend, who had served as CEO, international general insurance since 2018.
In the role, Mr. Hancock will lead the international operations of AIG’s general insurance business and will serve on the general insurance executive leadership team, AIG said.
“Jon is a seasoned executive and industry leader recognized for his track record of underwriting excellence and delivering strong financial results,” Mr. Zaffino said in the statement.
Prior to Lloyd’s, Mr. Hancock spent 26 years in varying roles at British insurer Royal & Sun Alliance Group PLC.
Richard Olsen has joined American International Group Inc. from Munich Re as chief actuary, general insurance, effective immediately, the company said Wednesday.
