BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

California restaurants will no longer serve up extra fees

California restaurants

In recent years, California has been no stranger to those extra charges tacked onto restaurant bills: from “wellness fees” to “kitchen love,” consumers have been griping over the hidden charges often jammed between the tax and total on the tab, and described as fees to help restaurants manage rising health care and payroll costs.

But no more in California after July 1, as the Golden State is banning the practice that some argued amounts to false advertising.

(Unfortunate note: Attendees at Riskworld, the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc.’s annual conference in San Diego next week, will still take those pesky 3% to 5% hits on their business meals.)

The state attorney general’s office said restaurants can still raise prices on menu items if they want to provide higher employee salaries or pay for rising supply costs, as reported by CBS News.
