BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Workplace injuries can happen for a lot of reasons, and Pie Insurance just unveiled how crazy it can get.

According to the small business workers compensation insurer’s recent workplace safety survey of 1,034 businesses, 30% of small business owners wished they had focused more on employee safety from the start of owning a business.

Why? Because a bird flew into a worker’s face while they were on the roof of a house and broke their nose. And an employee broke their foot while frantically running away from a spider. Also, a customer opened a champagne bottle and the employee got popped in the eye by the cork. Not to mention that an employee slipped from being chased by a chicken and another was bit by a baby skunk at a worksite.

Such are the highlights of the survey that provided some insight into uncommon events that let employers know that accidents can happen anywhere, anytime.
