New York's highest court is considering a case filed by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany and other church groups, seeking to overturn a regulation mandating that health insurance policies cover medically necessary abortions, ABC News reports. The groups argue the rule infringes on their religious beliefs. The regulation was approved by state financial regulators in 2017 and codified into law in 2022.
