Reality television star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian needs to get real about office furniture she claimed in a 2022 internet video was the creation of the legendary Minimalist artist Donald Judd, the late artist’s foundation says in a lawsuit filed Wednesday over what were counterfeit designs.
In decorating the offices for her Skkn makeup brand, Ms. Kardashian had hired the Los Angeles-based interior design firm Clements Design, which had misrepresented tables and chairs as authentic Judd designs, which cost $90,000 for a table and $9,000 per chair, according to The Art Newspaper, reporting on the lawsuit.
The Judd Foundation’s lawsuit accuses Ms. Kardashian and Clements Design of trademark infringement, copyright infringement, unfair competition, false advertising and false endorsement.
The organization is seeking any profits Ms. Kardashian and Clements Design may have received from the misrepresentation, and that all examples of the allegedly infringing furnishings be recalled and destroyed.
