The massive 7.6-magnitude earthquake that struck Japan’s west coast on Jan. 1 is adding further strain on the country’s already brittle semiconductor supply chain, The Loadstar reported. Companies such as Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Kaga Toshiba Electronics Co. Ltd., Tower Partners Semiconductor Co., Ltd., GlobalWafers Co., Ltd., and Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. are all located in the affected area of the quake, which caused damage to port, rail, and road infrastructure and forced companies to halt production.
