BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Street racer pledges to change his foolish ways

A 19-year-old Australian whose appalling driving was uncovered when police reviewed dash-cam recordings after an accident at least showed a degree of self-awareness after he was found out.

Speaking to reporters outside of a court in Sydney on Tuesday, Marcellus Otero said reviewing the dashcam’s footage taught him “not to be an idiot anymore,” the Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Mr. Otero allegedly was traveling at 130 kilometers an hour – about 80 mph – while street racing in a 60 kph zone when he crashed his car into a pole while swerving to avoid a collision. He escaped with minor injuries, but when police investigated the crash, they reviewed footage from the vehicle’s dashcam, which Mr. Otero said he did not realize was turned on.

The recording exposed 48 other alleged driving offenses. While the case was adjourned until later this month due to the volume of material to be assessed, among other charges, Mr. Otero faces six counts each of street racing, speeding and “driving dangerously, recklessly or furiously,” the publication reported.

Chastened by the experience and facing a driving ban, Mr. Otero said he would stop street racing and focus on taking care of students at his local church and his grandmother.
