Qantas hit with class action over pandemic travel credits

Australia-based Echo Law Pty Ltd. has initiated a class action against Qantas Airways Ltd. in federal court, alleging that the airline’s use of COVID-19 travel credits allowed it to treat its customers’ money as more than $1 billion in interest-free loans, The Guardian reported. The lawsuit accuses Qantas of engaging in misleading conduct in the way it communicated with its customers in early 2020 about their rights for flights, and of breaching its contract with customer by failing to provide timely cash refunds.
