Everest hires Renato Rodrigues from Axa to lead Canada division

Everest Insurance, the insurance division of Everest Re Group Ltd., Tuesday said former Axa XL executive Renato Rodrigues has been named president and CEO of Everest Insurance Co. of Canada.
Mr. Rodrigues will lead Everest’s Canada insurance business strategy, overseeing its underwriting, claims, operations and finance functions, an Everest statement said.
He will be based in Toronto, and will report to Mike Mulray, president of North America Insurance, Everest said in a statement.
Mr. Rodrigues joins Everest from Axa XL, a division of Axa SA, where he was most recently Canada country manager as well as CEO and chief agent for its Canada insurance operations, the statement said.
Everest also said Tuesday that Luke Lichty, interim CEO of Everest Insurance Co. of Canada, has been named head of commercial and specialty insurance.
Mr. Lichty will lead the commercial lines business development strategy and will oversee the Canadian underwriting team.
He will be based in Toronto and report to Mr. Rodrigues.
