BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Gallagher buy

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. said Tuesday it has acquired Ireland-based brokerage First Ireland Risk Management Ltd.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Founded in 1982, First Ireland provides commercial and personal coverage, life insurance and pensions. The brokerage has about 120 employees, according to an email from a Gallagher spokesman.

Joint managing directors Tony Gill and Linda Gallagher and staff will remain in its Dublin headquarters under the direction of Ronan Foley, head of Gallagher’s insurance brokerage operations in Ireland.

The deal follows Gallagher’s purchases of Wexford, Ireland-based Doyle Mahon Insurances and INNOVU Group Holding Co. Ltd. last year.
