BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

The Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc. has named former chief risk officer Soraya Wright as vice president of strategic initiatives, succeeding Carol Fox, who is retiring.

Ms. Wright, who previously founded and served as chief risk officer of SMW Risk Management Consulting LLC, and prior to that was vice president enterprise risk management at Target Corp., assumed the role effective Jan. 4, RIMS said in a statement Monday.

Ms. Wright has been an active member of RIMS for 30 years and was named one of Business Insurance’s 2015 Women to Watch.

As vice president of strategic initiatives, Ms. Wright will help identify trends, assessing the viability of new initiatives and evaluating existing ones to ensure growth and sustainability, RIMS said.

She will also lead the knowledge and learning, program and content development, publications, strategic and enterprise risk practices and standards development divisions, RIMS said.

The position also serves as staff adviser and co-liaison to RIMS’ strategic and enterprise risk management and standards and practices council.

“2020 has taught us that risk professionals must be prepared and ready to adapt to anything and, as the world’s leading risk management association, RIMS must be prepared to deliver strategic solutions and resources to support those evolving needs,” RIMS CEO Mary Roth said in the statement.

Ms. Wright will be based in the San Francisco area and report to Ms. Roth.
