WARREN, N.J.—Chubb Corp. said its second-quarter catastrophe-related losses could reach up to $240 million.
The losses stemmed primarily from severe hail and wind events in the United States, Chubb said Tuesday. The Warren, N.J.-based insurer, which is scheduled to release its second-quarter results on July 26, estimated that the catastrophe loses would range from $200 million to $240 million.
This week, Aon P.L.C.’s Aon Benfield unit said that weather-related insured losses in the United States for the month of June alone reached about $2 billion.
WARREN. N.J.—Chubb Corp.’s net income for the first quarter of this year reached $506 million, a drop of less than 1% from the $509 million reported during the same period last year, Chubb said Thursday.
