WARREN, N.J.—Chubb Corp. said its second-quarter catastrophe-related losses could reach up to $240 million.

The losses stemmed primarily from severe hail and wind events in the United States, Chubb said Tuesday. The Warren, N.J.-based insurer, which is scheduled to release its second-quarter results on July 26, estimated that the catastrophe loses would range from $200 million to $240 million.

This week, Aon P.L.C.’s Aon Benfield unit said that weather-related insured losses in the United States for the month of June alone reached about $2 billion.
