Nearly $1.9 billion paid in Fukushima quake claims

Data from the General Insurance Association of Japan shows that the insurance and reinsurance payouts for claims resulting from February’s 7.0-magnitude earthquake off the Fukushima coast have increased by almost 16% to around $1.87 billion, Artemis reported. The quake, which struck on Feb. 13, caused widespread damage across the Japanese prefectures of Fukushima, Miyagi and Iwate.
