Construction firms to shrink in wake of insurance rule

At least 20% of building contracting companies in Saudi Arabia are expected to exit the industry after a new rule requires them to carry inherent defects insurance, Middle East Insurance Review reported. The rule requires contractors involved in non-governmental projects to insure hidden defects to improve the standards of construction and acquire the inherent defects insurance for a building for 10 years.
