Natural disasters cause more than $7.5 billion in economic losses

China's Ministry of Civil Affairs and the National Commission for Disaster Reduction said that natural disasters caused direct economic losses of more than $7.5 billion in the first six months of the year, Xinhua reported. More than 30,000 houses were destroyed and 74,000 houses were severely damaged. Additionally, more than seven million hectares of crops were affected, with some 355,600 hectares destroyed.
