A.M. Best Co. Inc. has said in a report that several global developments threaten to stall growth and stability of the African insurance markets, reported Asia Insurance Review.

The development and financial strength of the insurance markets face threats like the economic slowdown in China and low commodity prices, said the rating agency. The uncertain landscape means that insurer and reinsurer balance sheets are exposed to material volatility, said A.M. Best.
