The Sports and Entertainment Risk Management Alliance on Tuesday said it has launched to provide support with claims and risk management.
The organization will provide programming on issues including criminal events at sporting events and concerts; premises liability at large venues; sexual abuse allegations; cyber risks; intellectual property and licensing issues; business interruption coverage and professional athlete and performer injuries.
SERMA will also allow members to share best practices, common solutions and industry trends, according to the statement from founder and CEO Rich Lenkov.
Members of the organization’s advisory board include Simon Keshishian, vice president, risk management, Red Bull; Jessica Mechtly, associate director, risk management, U.S. Olympic Committee; Jason Bernstein, vice president, assistant general counsel, AEG Presents; Joe Alvare, claims manager, University of Southern California; Sydney Posner, CEO, ClaimsXchange; Laurie Kleinman, vice president legal and risk management, Comcast Spectacor; Faith Mason, director, global claims management, Comcast NBCUniversal; and Shalom Suniula, property and casualty client executive, USI Insurance Services LLC.
The National Collegiate Athletic Association said the pandemic coverage included in the loss of revenue insurance it had in place for 2020 and 2021 is “no longer available” and it is exploring alternatives.
