W.R. Berkley Corp. said Thursday it has hired former Markel Corp. managing director James Hastings as next CEO of W.R. Berkley Syndicate Management Ltd.
Mr. Hastings has been appointed president of the Lloyd’s managing agent effective Feb. 22, 2022, and is expected to assume the role of CEO next year, Greenwich, Connecticut-based W.R. Berkley said.
Mr. Hastings will succeed current CEO David Brosnan, who will remain on the board of directors of the managing agency.
Mr. Hastings most recently led the international wholesale division of Markel Corp. and has nearly 20 years of industry experience.
W.R. Berkley Syndicate Management is the Lloyd’s managing agent for W.R. Berkley syndicate 1967.
U.K.-based W. R. Berkley Syndicate Management Ltd., Lloyd’s managing agent for WR Berkley Syndicate 1967, has appointed David Brosnan as its president and chief executive, The Bharat Express News reported. Brosnan, who succeeds Alastair Blades, was recently serving as chief executive officer of the international division of U.K.-based commercial insurance provider CNA Hardy.
