New York-based Amynta Group said it has acquired Scion Underwriting Services, a managing general agency that provides specialty casualty insurance to the excess and surplus market, from Brit Ltd.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Houston-based Scion specializes in excess liability, with a focus on the transportation market, and primary general liability, with total premiums of more than $65 million, Amynta said in a statement. Brit will continue to be its largest provider of underwriting capacity, the statement said.
Scion President Scott Brock and Senior Vice President Michael Hathaway will continue in their positions.
The Amynta Group operates through three segments: managing general agencies; warranty, including automotive, consumer and specialty equipment; and specialty risk services.
Amynta Group has acquired the surety operations of Aspen Insurance, the insurance segment of Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd., and will form a strategic partnership with Crum & Forster to write surety as part of the deal, Amynta said in a statement Friday.
