BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Guy Carpenter & Co. LLC named Peter Askew president and CEO of its Canadian operations, replacing its long-standing top executive in the country, as the reinsurance broker continues to revamp its management.

Toronto-based Mr. Askew has spent about 10 years at Guy Carpenter and rejoined the firm from insurer QBE Services Inc. (Canada) in 2017 as a managing director. He replaces Donald Callahan, who headed Guy Carpenter’s operations in Canada for 20 years, according to a Guy Carpenter statement.

Mr. Callahan will remain with the brokerage “dedicating his time and expertise to working closely with clients,” the statement said.

The announcement comes amid a flurry of management appointments at the New York-based unit of Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. over the past several weeks.

On Monday, Guy Carpenter named Neil Mayer chief operating officer, taking over the responsibilities of John Ehinger who has left the firm, and named two other new members of its executive committee.

Last month, former Willis Towers Watson PLC facultative reinsurance leader Laurence Upton was named managing director of Guy Carpenter’s new U.K. hybrid solutions unit.

Also in July, the reinsurance broker named Henry Lawrence, another former Willis Towers Watson facultative leader, as managing director of GC Fac UK.
