LOOKING FORWARD TO: I'm looking forward to working with the board as we embark upon a number of exciting new initiatives. ... We're confident (we) will see CFC achieve the next stage in its growth and expansion.

GOALS FOR NEW POSITION: My immediate focus is on the rollout of new initiatives in our newly created emerging risks division this year including transaction liability and crisis management, as well as continuing to grow our intellectual property rights proposition.

CHALLENGES FACING INDUSTRY: Technology has revolutionized the way we live, how we transact business, how we connect both personally and commercially. The pace of change is not reducing and so, from the perspective of someone focused on emerging risks, the challenge for insurers is simply keeping up with the new exposures our clients face and developing cover that is fit for purpose.

FIRST INDUSTRY JOB: Working for Tillinghast as an actuarial consultant. Please don't hold that against me.

ADVICE: The only dumb question is the one that doesn't get asked. Never stop asking.

OUTSIDE THE INDUSTRY, A DREAM JOB: I would have loved to have been a racing driver.

HOBBIES: Anything to do with cars.

FAVORITE MEAL: My mum's roast beef and Yorkshire pudding.

FAVORITE BOOK: “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. It really struck a chord while I was travelling in South America years ago.

CAN'T-MISS TELEVISION SHOW: “Grey's Anatomy.”

BEST CITY: Hong Kong (because) it's a real melting pot of cultures.
