BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

OFF BEAT: Couple turn up the volume on Ford with lawsuit

It’s bad enough when two people riding together in a car can’t agree on the right volume for the radio, but what can be done when the car itself seems to have an opinion on the matter?

That’s precisely the dilemma facing an Alabama couple, who allege that the stereo in their 2012 Lincoln MKZ insists on randomly cranking itself up to maximum volume.

The couple, Dr. Jon Owings and wife Sally, sued Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford Motor Co. — along with the local dealership that sold them the car — seeking unspecified damages, according to a report by The Huntsville Times.

The lawsuit alleges that the couple returned the car to the dealership four separate times for repairs, beginning about a month after they purchased it, according to the newspaper.

The couple entered into a contractually required Better Business Bureau arbitration process to solve the issue prior to filing the lawsuit, but they were not satisfied with the outcome and refused to sign the arbitrator’s decision.
