BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

The Institutes updates associate in risk management program

To keep pace with changes in the risk management field, the Institutes has updated its associate in risk management program.

The ARM program now will address risk management standards and guidelines such as ISO 31000 and the enterprise risk management guidelines put forward by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission. It also will address financial, operational and strategic risk; financial statement analysis; and global concepts and examples, the Malvern, Pa.-based Institutes announced Wednesday.

The Institutes is the operating name for the Insurance Institute of America and the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters.

The updated program will see the ARM 54 — Risk Management Principles and Practices course adding 80% new content, with an enterprisewide risk management perspective now included throughout the course.

The updated ARM 55 — Risk Assessment and Treatment course contains 40% new content, including the risk assessment content from the previous version of ARM 54 as well as new content on root cause analysis, business continuity/supply chain, reputation risk, international law, climate change risk, cyber risk and social media risk.

The ARM 56 — Risk Financing course contains 20% new content, with financial risk broken out into a separate assignment and the addition of international insurance content.

Study materials for the updated ARM program are available for purchase, with exams beginning in the January-March 2013 testing window. Exams on the previous version of study materials will be available until June 15, 2013.
