To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

"Emerging Risk Strategies" is a periodic column written for Business Insurance by John J. Hampton, a professor of enterprise risk management and former executive director of the Risk & Insurance Management Society Inc.

Mr. Hampton is the KPMG Professor of Business and Director of Graduate Business Programs at Saint Peter's College in Jersey City, N.J. He previously served as dean of the business schools at Seton Hall University and Connecticut State University and was a professor of risk management at The College of Insurance, now the School of Risk Management at St. John's University. He was the executive director of RIMS from 2000 to 2004.

Mr. Hampton explores issues relating to enterprise risk management and how organizations can create a strong culture that fosters a broad perspective on managing internal and external exposures. In columns to date, he has explored corporate governance, chief risk officers, chief strategy officers, risk management in Russia, and the evolving role of the risk manager.
