To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Former AIG executive Mark Willis dies

Mark Willis, a longtime executive at American International Group Inc., died Saturday.

Mr. Willis, 75, spent 37 years at the insurer and retired in 2014 as chairman and executive vice president of AIG’s property/casualty segment in the United States and Canada.

A well-known figure in the market, Mr. Willis briefly played football for the Chicago Bears before beginning his insurance career.

He joined AIG as an underwriter for its New Hampshire Insurance Co. unit in 1977 and became branch manager of the Des Moines, Iowa, office in 1982. Among other positions at the insurer, he was named head of its Central U.S. zone in 1995 and was named an executive vice president in 2002.

In 2016, the Katie School of Insurance and Risk Management at Illinois State University inducted Mr. Willis into its Hall of Fame.
