Data analytics firm MultiPlan, which works with major insurers including UnitedHealthcare Inc., Cigna Group, and Aetna Inc., is under scrutiny for its role in determining payments to out-of-network medical providers, The New York Times reports. A Times investigation reveals that MultiPlan and the insurance companies have a financial incentive to minimize reimbursements, often leaving patients with large bills.
