Brown & Brown acquires Florida agriculture risk agencies

Brown & Brown Inc., a Daytona Beach, Florida-based commercial insurance brokerage, said Wednesday it has acquired the assets of Chapp Inc. and Citrus Insurance Services Inc., combined agencies specializing in agricultural risk placement.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Chapp and Citrus employees will join Brown & Brown offices in Lakeland and Sebring, Florida, according to a news release.

Chapp and Citrus have about 14 employees, according to their website.

Chapp is a family-owned company formed in 1976 to assist citrus harvesters with securing workers compensation insurance.

Brown & Brown is the seventh-largest broker of U.S. business, according to Business Insurance rankings
