The U.S. Department of Justice has initiated an antitrust investigation into UnitedHealth Group Inc., interviewing health care industry representatives about the company's relationships between its insurance unit and its health services arm, Optum, Reuters reports. The probe also includes scrutiny of the company's Medicare billing practices. The investigation is part of wider efforts by the Biden administration to tackle soaring health care costs, which have seen increased scrutiny of pharmacy benefit manager middlemen and their role in rising costs.
