Obesity and excess weight cost U.S. businesses and employees an estimated $425.5 billion in 2023, according to a report by GlobalData, BenefitsPro reports. The associated costs include higher medical costs, disability payments, workers compensation program costs, and costs related to work absenteeism and presenteeism. The report suggests that employers could significantly benefit from implementing wellness programs and providing education and resources for obesity care and weight management.
