Maryland House approves health insurance for immigrants regardless of status

The Maryland House has approved a measure allowing people to purchase health insurance through the state's health care exchange, regardless of their immigration status, pending federal waiver approval, the Associated Press reports. The bill, which now moves to the state Senate, mandates the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange to submit a federal waiver application by July 1, 2025. The waiver is necessary due to federal restrictions on undocumented immigrants using the marketplace.
