The European Union is expected to impose a fine €500 million ($540 million) on Apple Inc. for allegedly breaking laws over access to its music streaming services, abusing its powerful position and imposing anti-competitive trading practices on rivals, The Financial Times reported. The probe, which was launched after music-streaming platform Spotify Technology SA made a formal complaint in 2019, is investigating whether Apple blocked applications from informing iPhone users of cheaper alternatives to access music subscriptions outside the App Store.
