Pacific Steel & Recycling, a Montana-based company, has managed to cut its per-person health spending by nearly half in five years without reducing benefits, Axios reports. The company, which is self-insured, achieved this by cutting ties with traditional provider networks and implementing a "reference-based pricing" system, setting prices for health care services based on Medicare rates.
